DESCRIPTION: Dent, 64 Strand & 34 Royal Exchange, London, pocket chronometer with Guiblet & Rambal fusee keyless work, 15 jewels, stem wind and pin set, gilt plate movement with Earnshaw spring detent escapement, free sprung, cut bimetallic balance with diamond endstone, helical balance spring, and gold timing screws, also with provision for locking the escape wheel, in a later, purpose made sterling silver, hinged back and bezel, open face case with Chester hallmark and date letter for the year 1940, and Roman numeral, single sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade and whip hands, serial #33703, 50mm, c1865 (movement) .
CONDITION: CASE: Later, made for this movement; Minor dings and pin pricks; Minor scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, light, 3:00 to seconds bit, center to seconds bit, 11:00 to center. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches and marks on plate; Steel with a few specks of oxide; Screw heads with minor losses to blue. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Locking stone replaced with steel.
